Eight Algonquin choral students, representing Mixed Chorus, Chamber Choir and Camerata Singers, spent Saturday, Oct. 20 at UMass Amherst for the High School Collegiate Choral Festival sponsored by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Joshua Chang, Soraya Hafiani, Julia Hayes, Nathan Jagh, Max Petrie, Sravya Tanikella, Matt Webster, and Alex Ziada worked on Mass in G by Franz Schubert and If Music be the Food of Love, by David C. Dickau, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Papago of UMass Amherst. Our students joined forces with 60 other high school students from around the state, as well as choral and orchestral students and faculty soloists from UMass. The day of preparation culminated in a concert that included selections by the university Chamber Singers and Chorale, attended by parents of the high school students and the parents of the university students who were there for parents weekend.
